Founded in 1967, the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is the foremost organization for students interested in public relations and communications. We advocate for rigorous academic standards and the highest ethical principles and diversity in the public relations profession.

To provide exceptional service to our members by enhancing their education, broadening their professional network and helping launch their careers after graduation.

Who We Are

​

PRSSA is made up of nearly 9,000 students and advisors organized into 300 plus Chapters all over the world. We are headquartered in New York City, and led by a National Committee of PRSA and PRSSA members. We have a rich history of support from our parent organization, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), which also offers professional development, networking opportunities, and industry news.

Enhance Your Education:

PRSSA can help you gain the experience and practical knowledge employers are seeking. We offer leadership opportunities, skill building, professional certifications, scholarships, curated internship listings, and awards. In addition, PRSSA provides publications, industry news, and social media platforms to keep you updated on industry trends.

Broaden Your Network:

PRSSA can connect you to a network of peers and professionals who will become lifelong friends and mentors. We can facilitate the development of valuable relationships with future colleagues through national, regional, and local chapter PRSSA events. We also provide you the opportunity to meet current professionals through your PRSA sponsor Chapter, the Champions for PRSSA, and by searching the PRSA member directory.

Launch Your Career:

As a PRSSA member, you can use the PRSA Jobcenter and PRSSA Internship Center to find public relations employment opportunities all over the world! PRSSA is a lifelong network. Students can transition into PRSA as post-graduates. Former PRSSA members (within two years) can join PRSA as Associate Members for a discounted $60 rather than $115 to guarantee continued access to 110 Chapters, 16 Professional Interest Sections, and coveted industry resources.

PRSSA is open to all students interested in communication. If you are majoring in any of the following, please consider joining us: Advertising – Business Administration & Management – Film & Video – Graphic Design – Journalism – Marketing – Political Science – Public & Non-Profit Administration.

​

PRSSA dues are accepted twice a year, once in spring (Mar. 1) and once in fall (Nov. 1). Memberships are considered as starting either Mar. 1 or Nov. 1 and will expire the following year on the last day of February or October.
